This edition of Global View looks at corporate governance – an 'A list' topic these days for corporations worldwide. In the first two articles, our author consultants share their thoughts on how the governance movement is changing global corporations’ compensation programmes. They address the governance-inspired changes companies must consider in the management and reporting of their executive compensation programmes. A third article focuses on the impact of mandatory stock option expensing on equity-based long-term incentive (LTI) programmes. Specifically, it reports the findings of HR&IS’ 2004 survey of LTI programmes at 170 companies operating in 30 countries.

In our country-specific section, we report on 'hot topics' from ten countries on four continents – all in all a rather far-flung excursion into some of the issues professionals with HR responsibilities in those countries should be thinking about.
