Unum integrate a FREE EAP into their Group Income Protection (GIP) products
No such thing as a free lunch? Well, such is Unum’s belief in the merits of an EAP (employee assistance programme) that they have decided to include as standard a good quality, reasonably comprehensive EAP within their GIP products. Ceridian provide the EAP service, which includes face-to-face counselling sessions and advice and support for childcare and eldercare issues (even extending to location and ‘matching’ of appropriate carers).
We think this is a significant development for our clients – whether or not your current GIP provider is Unum.
If you do not currently offer a GIP benefit (or self insure in some capacity), then now may be the time to review again the economics of managing/funding your long-term sickness issues.
This is a fiercely competitive market-place with new entrants arriving. Great value is obtainable – and this is all central to the efficiencies that can spring from an integrated wellness strategy (see above item).
