Norwich Union Healthcare offers discounted gym fees
Norwich Union has joined other leading medical insurers in making discounted gym fees available to its members.
The Norwich Union arrangement offers discounts of between 15% and 40% across a range of health & fitness facilities including LA Fitness, Kinetika and Bodysense, as well as other independent gyms and leisure centres. Details are available at www.nugetactive.co.uk.
Medical insurers are keen to promote the wellbeing services that are now positioned alongside their products – both to differentiate themselves and to encourage members to improve their health (and so reduce the likelihood of them claiming?).
BUPA offers a similar discounted fee arrangement and claims the best 12-monthly rates available through Fitness First health clubs. Members who take up the gym offer can also take advantage of a complimentary BUPA Health Check Tracker programme (normal cost £135) which would be carried out by a Fitness First personal trainer.
PruHealth goes a stage further in offering discounted arrangements with Cannons, LA Fitness and Virgin Active health clubs – which are then further subsidised for verified regular users. Through the PruHealth Vitality programme, members who use gym facilities twice a week or more (averaged over a three-month period) would then qualify for gym fees from as little as £5 a month at Virgin Active, or even free at Cannons and LA Fitness clubs.
